The mission of the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District is to provide quality fire, rescue, and emergency services to the residents of Georgetown Township.

September 2017 Training Update

The training division has been hard at work in September keeping our staff busy with a multitude of different trainings. We have had staff attend Street Smart Extrication, assist with Harrison Township Fire’s Module A class,  and IDHS Fire Investigation I certification class.  Crew trainings have been on building construction, ventilation, vehicle stabilization, water supply, engine company operations, truck company operations, hose advancement, and drivers training  just to name a few. Our training’s have been built around strengthening our basic fundamentals and gaining knowledge in more complicated area.

Moreover, we had our quarterly mutual aid training with Lafayette Township Fire Protection District and Greenville Township Volunteer Fire Department.  Everyone in attendance was shown the setup process for Ladder 2 and had the opportunity to climb the aerial to the top of the training tower. Captain Mills with GVFD, also led members through various ground ladder carries and throws. These training allow us not only the opportunity to train together but to also see each department’s equipment thus allowing us to be more effective when working together on scenes.
