GTFD 2024 Awards Banquet

Press Release 3-18-24.

On March 15, 2024, The Georgetown Township Fire Protection District held its Annual Awards and Promotion Ceramony. The ceremony began promptly at 8:00PM, after the cocktail hour at 6:00PM, and Dinner at 7:00PM. This year the gathering was held at The Spot in Georgetown located at 1116 Copperfield Dr. Georgetown, IN.

The ceremony began with opening remarks from Deputy Chief Ned Wiseman, Floyd County Commissioner Jason Sharp, Chairman of the Board for the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District Mike Moody.

Chief Banta delivered his State of Department Address where he announced that he will not seek a second contract with The Georgetown Township Fire Protection District and will effectively retire from the fire service on March 30, 2025, at which time he will have served over forty-two years in the fire service.

Becky Warren Received the Citizen Award for outstanding Service to the children at Georgetown Elementary

Logan Isenhower, Chad Graves, Casey Stephenson, Joshua Sutton, Jacob Farmer, Wesley Wundrak received the “Life Saver Award” for their actions on incidents that contributed to lives saved.

Captain Joshua Sutton received the “James Mayfield Fire Officer of the Year Award” for continuous example of professionalism as an officer of the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District.

Sergeant Jacob Farmer received the “Georgetown Township Fire Protection District Firefighter of the Year Award” for his exemplary performance throughout the previous year.

Cameron Ayers and Joseph LaPlant were promoted to the rank of captain.

Jefferey Abbott, Jacob Farmer, and Zachary Grencavich were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
